SCM Studio
We’ve been producing recording projects for independent artists since 1990. We have worked with talented musicians from all over the world.
SCM Studio is not a “studio for hire.” In other words, you don’t rent the studio and then pay extra for the engineer and the musicians. Our studio is what the industry calls a “project studio.” It’s housed in a specially built pair of rooms in the back of our home.
When you produce your music at SCM Studio, you are actually hiring us as “music consultants” and we just happen to own a recording studio!
Our Philosophy:
We will do everything we can to help you the create music you’ve always wanted to create.
Music has been called “the collaborative art.” Beethoven needed other musicians to perform his music. Rogers needed Hammerstein. The Beatles needed George Martin.
Think of us as your own personal George Martin. What did Martin do for the Beatles?
- Producing – Selecting the best take of a song, or the best performance of a particular part.
- Arranging – think about the string and horn parts and the vocal arrangements from many Beatles recordings: you’re hearing the work of George Martin.
- Song doctoring – It was George Martin who suggested starting “Can’t Buy Me Love” with the chorus instead of the verse.”
- Mixing and editing - It was Martin who masterminded the most famous edit in Pop music history on the song “Strawberry Fields.” (Editing is a lot easier today!)
- Song sequencing – He spent 48 hours with John and Paul, working on the running order of the “White Album.”
It may not take us 48 hours to figure out a running order for your CD, but we can do for you everything that George Martin did for the Beatles!
